Letter of appreciation
Dear Editor:
On behalf of my family, I thank all those who helped make the celebration of life for my husband, David Parkhurst, a memorable one. Michelle Brown Wilson at Brown’s Wharf and her crew of volunteers made this day not only memorable for all Dave’s friends and family, but also stress free for our family. Thank you to Michelle Wilson, Holly Stover, Debbie Todte, Eileen Higgins, Dawn Thomas, Mary Kaler, Abbe Levin and Jeanne Tonan who worked hard to organize and deliver all the refreshments and to ensure that the venue was well organized.
Dave loved them all, and they honored him beautifully with their work. Thank you also to family friends, Abbe Levin and Ronny Arsenault, who graciously volunteered to greet all our guests. Thank you to Mark Stover for volunteering a sound system that allowed everyone to hear the service easily.
David had asked Michelle for the use of her dining room as a venue for this celebration before he died. Michelle, a lifelong friend of David’s, honored him with an enthusiastic yes. Kate Carpenter and Jordan Parkhurst, Erna Johannesdottir, Andy Dolloff, Mike Harrison and Chris Barstow honored Dave kindly by speaking about him.
Ava, Sophia and Mark Carpenter created a bulletin board and video of pictures from Dave’s life while Jordan collated the music his father asked him to use to represent him. Mark Carpenter, our son-in-law, spent his time making sure all ran smoothly for our family and guests during the service.
Thank you all. If anyone has been left out of this thank you, it was not intentional.
Everyone’s gift of time and love was appreciated. Dave told his family before he died that he wished to be remembered as a good guy. We have received hundreds of cards and letters from people whose lives he touched telling us that he was exactly that, a good guy. The outpouring of sentiments from people who were able to attend Dave’s service, as well as the notes from people everywhere, have given us all much solace. Thank you.
In sincere appreciation,
Cathie Parkhurst
