Level up at the Library during this year’s Summer Reading Challenge! Join us for fun, free programs for all ages.

We’ll kick things off with Windjammers for Wee Mateys on Tuesday, June 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. where kids can get temporary pirate tattoos, pick pirate names, and practice their pirate talk. Sign up for the Summer Reading Program to complete reading challenges to earn prizes and raffle tickets for a chance to win even bigger prizes!

Throughout the summer, we’ll have Outside Storytime every Friday at 10:30 a.m. and Drop-In Lego and Gaming on Wednesdays from 1 to 2 p.m. We’ll also host Fairweather Films on the Lawn on Fridays at 7 p.m. starting with Disney’s "Alice in Wonderland" on July 11. Other movies will include "Free Guy" (July 18), "Super Mario Bros." (July 25), the original "Jumanji" (Aug. 1), and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" (Aug. 8). In July, visit the Library for lots of exciting adventures. On Saturday, July 12 at 10:30 a.m., set off for a Downtown Scavenger Hunt. Stop by for a round of Bingo on Friday July 18 at 6 p.m. and make sure to reserve your spot at a special Kids Author Talk with Chris Van Dusen on Saturday, July 26 at 1 p.m. at the Boothbay Railway Village. In August, stop by for a very special story hour with Lindsay & Her Puppet Pals on Friday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. and join area scientists for sea explorations during Ocean Day on Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. Summer Reading Wrap-Up will mark the end of summer with a celebration of all of the challenges readers have completed. Join us for games, music, and ice cream from Blanchard’s Creamery on Friday, Aug. 15 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Crafters are already out on the lawn Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; and Thursday night Band Concerts start after July 4.
