A Holly Jolly Y Arts Concert

Thu, 12/21/2023 - 8:30am

Wrapped in between the cute opening number of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” by the Itty Bitty Tap dancers and the rollicking “Jingle Bells” number by the Music Theater dancers to end the night was a cavalcade of fun, holiday songs and dances by the Y Arts group before a packed gym at the Boothbay Region YMCA Dec. 20.

Directed by the Y’s Artistic Director Emily Mirabile and choreographed by her and two of her senior members, Imij Armstead and Sophia Mansfield, the concert, “A Holly Jolly Y Arts Concert,” featured 13 songs and dancers. Besides the aforementioned groups, other performers included Beginner Tap (“Candy Cane Lane”), Intermediate Tap (“Sleigh Ride”), Kiddie Choir (“Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “I’m Getting Nothing for Christmas”), Intermediate Ballet (“Colors of the Wind”), Y Arts Singers (“That’s Christmas to Me” and “Ribbons and Bows”) and Ballet dancers (“Christmas Time is Here”). Music Theater Dance also performed “We Need a Little Christmas” and “Raise It Up.” Armstead and Mansfield did a dance routine to “Kid on Christmas.”

Dressed in Christmas colors and adornments, the performers shined and spread the spirit of the season at the annual concert.
