Heads of the Harbor fundraiser underway
It's time for the third annual fundraiser for childhood cancer at Heads of the Harbor.
According to the National Cancer Institute, it is estimated that over 9,550 new cases of childhood cancer will be diagnosed in children between birth and age 14.
The salon fundraising event kicked off the first week of September in honor of Go Gold for Childhood Cancer month. The fundraiser and donations are accepted in honor or family member, Jameson Brooks, who lost his battle with cancer in 2022. There are door prizes to sign up for, raffles to win and a jar for donations in any denomination at the salon.
The annual Cut-A-Thon will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with free coffee, donuts and a 50/50 raffle. Last year with the help of many community members they raised over $10,000 and hopes to raise even more this year. All proceeds will be donated to the local Special Olympics and Maine Children's Cancer Foundation.
Stop by Heads of the Harbor, 52 Union Street, Boothbay Harbor with your donations at any time during regular business hours, whether you have an appointment or not. The raffle winners will be drawn on Sept. 30 at the end of the day. If you would like to donate and can't make it to the salon, feel free to call at (207) 315-2025. Every bit helps when it comes to bringing awareness and hope to children battling cancer.
