Hall-Dale edges Boothbay, 1-0
A goal in the second quarter was all the scoring in Monday’s field hockey game between the Boothbay Region Seahawks and Hall-Dale Bulldogs, with the visiting Bulldogs pulling out a hard-fought win on Perkins Field, BRHS.
At 6:25 of the second frame, Abby Labonte pushed the ball past Seahawk goalie Sophie White for the eventual winning goal.
The Seahawks, who suffered their first loss of the season (4-1), played well but just couldn’t score against Hall-Dale’s goalie, Maig Cote, who had 17 saves. The Bulldogs improved to 3-1-1 with the victory.
Boothbay controlled the ball for most of the second half but a few bad bounces didn’t allow them to get a stick on the ball near the goal in the final quarter.
Hall-Dale had seven penalty corners while Boothbay had five.
The Seahawks next play on Monday, Sept. 22 at Mountain Valley at 4 p.m.
