Laundromat hosts 'gourdeous' pumpkin contest
Coastal Car Wash and Harbor’s Choice Laundry was embracing the Halloween spirit Oct. 31 as it hosted its first-ever pumpkin decorating competition.
Whether it was painting, carving, or accessorizing, contestants had full creative reins on how to decorate their gourds. Out of the eight entries, three were chosen as winners for the Spookiest, Funniest and Most Creative categories. Each received a candy-filled Yeti cup branded with the company logo and coupons for the car wash.
Judges included Tracy Warlick and Heather Legendre of Bangor Savings Bank, and Miss Maine Emissary Katie Cunningham. It was tough competition with debate amongst the panel, but the winners were chosen as:
Spookiest: Spider pumpkin, by Slade Baldson
Funniest: Kooky glasses-wearer, by 9-year-old Ethan Copeland
Most Creative: Dinosaur with cracking egg, by Tyler Balsdon
Owner Terri Herald said the business plans to host more holiday-themed events, including an upcoming pop-up market this Christmas.
