Windjammer Days 2022

Fourth annual crab cake cook-off

Tue, 06/28/2022 - 8:00am

Boothbay Harbor Inn hosted the fourth annual crab cake cook-off, Windjammer Days’ first weekday event June 27. Facing off in the kitchen were Amy Crooks of Kaler’s Restaurant, People’s Choice 2021 winner Rick Koplau of Newagen Seaside Inn pub, 2021 winner Kelly Farrin of Carriage House and Delray Bennett of Mine Oyster. Judges were Maine House District 89 Rep. Holly Stover, Channel 6’s Amanda Hill and author, entrepreneur and two-time Claw Down winner Dana Moos.

Over three dozen donors filled the Inn’s waterside function room tables as chefs and cooks prepared their dishes in the back. Emcee Michele Barter guided guests through the checklist, and the first dish of the competition, Crooks’, was served. Hill, Moos and Stover were busy from the start, sampling and taking notes in between dishes. The second dish was by Koplau, the third by Farrin and the fourth by Bennett.

After the last of the dishes were cleared, guests’ checklists were collected and brought to the back to be counted. Farrin and Koplau reclaimed their titles.
