Five Objects Tour at Boothbay Region Historical Society

Mon, 09/17/2018 - 8:15am

Boothbay Region Historical Society presents “History of the Boothbay Region in Five Objects,” a guided tour of the museum’s collection, on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. The Boothbay region was one of the first regions in Maine to be settled by Europeans and has a rich and exciting history. The early settlers were necessarily self-sufficient and goods were largely hand-made at home, but the Industrial Revolution and political developments had a huge impact on this ancient pattern. Explore how objects in the museum’s collection illustrate the changes in the Boothbay region from the 1600s to the 1900s.

As part of the Boothbay Region Historical Society’s “Cake and Culture” series, participants are invited to share their memories of Boothbay over a slice of Victorian seed cake at the end of the tour. The tour is hosted by Kathy Goldner, outreach manager at Boothbay Region Historical Society and admission is free to all.

Boothbay Region Historical Society is open to the public throughout the year, from Thursday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information contact the museum at 633-0820, email brhs@gwi.net, or check the website at www.boothbayhistorical.org.
