First National Bank and Boothbay Fire Dept. partner to fund critical life-saving equipment
In a major boost to local emergency readiness, First National Bank has made a generous financial donation to the Boothbay Fire Department. The contribution is earmarked specifically for the procurement of new fire, rescue, and life-saving equipment, ensuring that local first responders have the state-of-the-art tools they need when seconds count.
As the Boothbay Fire Department continues to face a diverse array of emergency calls—ranging from complex structure fires and hazardous weather events to serious motor vehicle collisions —the need for reliable, modern equipment has never been greater. First National Bank’s contribution will go directly toward outfitting the town's interior firefighters and rescue crews.
The funds will be utilized to assist in the purchase advanced thermal imaging cameras, which allow firefighters to rapidly locate trapped victims and identify hidden fire extensions in zero-visibility environments.
"First National Bank is deeply committed to the communities we serve, and there is no better way to show that commitment than by supporting the first responders who keep us safe," said Alyssa Allen, Retention and Business Development Officer at First National Bank. "We are honored to partner with the Boothbay Fire Department and provide the funding necessary to ensure they have the most advanced, life-saving equipment available. When emergencies happen, our local firefighters are always there for us, and we want to make sure we are there for them."
"We rely heavily on the support of our community to maintain the high standard of readiness our residents and businesses expect and deserve," added Boothbay Fire & Rescue Chief Tim Pinkham. "This generous donation from First National Bank guarantees that 100% of these funds will be put directly into the hands of our firefighters in the form of life-saving equipment. It is an investment in the safety of every single person who lives in or visits Boothbay."
The donation from First National Bank builds on a highly successful period of grassroots fundraising for the department. Recently, the department raised over $11,000 from local businesses, community endowments, and residents, while also securing significant federal and state grants to replace a 23-year-old fleet of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) packs and install a new diesel exhaust extraction system at the station.
As a genuine community bank with a branch right in neighboring Boothbay Harbor, First National Bank has a long history of supporting regional emergency services. Their partnership with the Boothbay Fire Department not only protects the immediate town but strengthens the entire peninsula's emergency network, as Boothbay frequently provides mutual aid alongside the Edgecomb, Southport, and Boothbay Harbor fire departments.
The new equipment funded by First National Bank will be ordered immediately and is expected to be placed on the frontline apparatus in the coming weeks, ready to serve the Boothbay region for years to come.
