Two first-half goals were enough as the Mountain Valley Falcons spoiled Boothbay Region’s Homecoming game by winning 2-1 on Perkins Field on a rainy Friday afternoon, Oct. 2.
Melina Byam scored first with just one minute expired in the game. In the second quarter, Mountain Valley scored early again on a goal by Addison Libby at 14:25.
Boothbay's (5-4) lone goal was scored at 14:09 of the third quarter on a shot by Moriah Smith.
The Seahawks had some good chances in the first quarter with five penalty corners and in the second quarter, a shot near the goal hit the goal frame and bounced away. Mountain Valley was quick to intercept Boothbay's passes and held the Seahawks to only a few shots on goal after Smith's goal.
Mountain Valley (5-3) avenged the loss to Boothbay earlier in the season, losing 3-2 in Rumford.
It was the fourth loss for Boothbay, which lost for the fourth time by a 2-1 score.
The Seahawks are next scheduled to travel to Bethel to take on the Telstar Rebels (0-8) on Monday, Oct. 5.
