Facts about yes on Question 1
Dear Editor:
Votingyes on Question 1 is not taking away the absentee ballot. You still can receive a ballot by sending a written application by mail, online, or in person. You can request a ballot up to seven days before an election. A family member can assist you or a third person if needed. You must request an absentee ballot for every election.
Yes on Question 1 will make Maine elections more secure and fair. It will stop impersonation and fraud. Having to request an absentee ballot every election will lower the risk of ballots going to outdated or incorrect addresses. This will make it harder for misuse of the ballot.
A Maine woman recently received a package from Amazon with 250 official Maine ballots that are for the November election. These ballots should have been secured with election officials. Voting yes on 1 would stop abuse and fraud if these ballots were put into use.
Secretary of State Shenna Bellows has already admitted there are non-citizens on Maine’s voter list. Non-citizens do not have the right to vote in our elections. Again, voting yes on 1 would stop non-citizens from voting.
There is much disinformation being spread on Question 1. Typically, it is people at farmer markets, at store fronts and letters to the editor. Take the time to get the correct facts. Go to VoterIDforME.com
