Church pew silent auction
The Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor has announced it will launch a Capital Campaign this year to renovate the Sanctuary. The campaign, “Prepare the Way, A Sanctuary for All,” will address accessibility, hearing assistance, emergency evacuation, and enhance online worship and hybrid meetings, creating a multi-use space for worship, concerts, and other events.
The church must remove the first two sets of pews to make room for the staging area, ramp, and piano. They are currently hosting a silent auction for anyone interested in purchasing all or part of the pews. Individuals interested in participating can submit their ideas and bids online by following this link, https://forms.gle/2xdto7pKQo4TVmaD7, or call Heather at the church at (207) 633-4757. The bid will include both a price and the intended use. Bids are due Sept. 15, and the trustees will decide among the bids based on a combination of intended use. The four pews are divided into eight sections, allowing bids to be made for 1 to 8 sections. They are each about 7 1/2 feet, depending on where you measure a curved surface.
On Sunday, Sept. 14, we will have a brief ceremony at the end of church to decommission the pews as a part of our sanctuary. We will give thanks for the stories these pews have held and bless their next chapter.
