Charles E. Pennoyer

Charles Emmons “Chuck” Pennoyer, 86, died Nov. 27, 2023 at his home in West Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Chuck was born Dec. 28, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Raymond Palmer Pennoyer and Edith Emmons Pennoyer. Chuck attended Shadyside Academy for high school in Pittsburgh. Chuck graduated Summa Cum Laude from Harvard University in 1958, and received his Law Degree from Harvard in 1961. He practiced Law in California for a number of years.

Chuck resided in his home in West Boothbay Harbor for over 60 years where he compassionately took care of his mother until her death in 1985 and then continued to live there in the same home until his passing. He thoroughly enjoyed reading and spent many days at the Boothbay Harbor Library reading everything he could get his hands on.

He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Edith Pennoyer Vassamillet; sister-in-law, Shirley Kimber Pennoyer; and nephew, Chris Newcomb.

He is survived by his brother, Raymond P. “Red” Pennoyer Jr. and his wife, Sally Anne SulikPennoyer of Beacon Falls, Connecticut; sister, Anne Pennoyer Newcomb of Reston, Virginia; nephews, John Newcomb and his wife Judy of Reston,Virginia, Charlie Newcomb of Dundalk, Maryland, Raymond P. Pennoyer III and his wife Donna of Northford, Connecticut; nieces, Laura Pennoyer Vassamillet-Smith and husband Charlie of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Marti Pennoyer Nolan and her husband Dave of Douglassville, Pennsylvania, Shay Pennoyer Cross and her husband Glen of Englewood, Florida, Wendy Anne Pennoyer Barrows and her husband Jim of Johnston, Rhode Island.

A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay.
