Changes in leadership and marketing
Black Friday is over and we have all now settled down into the month of December with occasional snow, more frequent cold, and visions of the summer of 2014 in our heads. One of these visions is another edition of the now famous Lobster Run. The offshore ocean race between Stonington, Conn., and Boothbay Harbor, which is attracting more and more national interest.
There are some changes, most specifically in leadership and marketing. Originally the Lobster Run was an effort of the Corinthians with the help and support of Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club and Stonington Yacht Club. This year, the two clubs, especially BHYC, are taking more of a leadership role, assisting the Corinthians. With the strong support of Commodore Lee Krow and Rear Commodore Eric Hakanson, work is well underway to making this event a big participation race.
PC John Chapman will steer the event from the BHYC perspective and he will be supported by many of our team including Bob Scribner, a past race participant, and yours truly. Look for many opportunities to contribute your time and talents to making this bi-annual event a major element of our coming summer. The race starts on July 25 at Stonington, Conn., and ends off McKown Point (new finish line this year) some two days later.
Save the night of December 19 for the December Christmas party to be held at the home of PC Marianne Reynolds. This is a spacious and lovely site for the event and if the turnout last month was any prediction, it will be a well attended soirée.
