May 27, Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Cemetery District voted not to replace the metal archway above Boothbay’s Evergreen Cemetery that was destroyed in October 2025. Instead, the district will explore other signage options.
President Skip MacPhee will seek price estimates for a 4- to 5-foot sign with either brick or stone columns. The district received a $24,800 insurance payment for the prior archway. Trustees talked about reaching out to McEvoy Foundation for additional funds.
The sign at Boothbay’s Oceanview Cemetery has also sustained damage from being scraped by tall vehicles. It was recently straightened by Sprague Metal Works, costing $2,000. MacPhee also put up a “low clearance” sign.
In other business, MacPhee received a $33,500 estimate from Boothbay Region Surveyors to do survey work at Evergreen, so undeveloped land on the property can be converted into gravesites. He will be exploring additional surveyor options.
Prior trustee Kim Pinkham of Boothbay returned to the board after winning the officer election earlier in May.
