Boothbay/Wiscasset girls track & field places 9th at Freshmen Championships
Sixteen schools participated June 3 in the Central Maine Freshmen League Championship in Bath which saw the Boothbay/Wiscasset girls team finish ninth. The team scored 30 points. Winner and host Morse High School scored 93, runner-up Skowhegan tallied 58, and Yarmouth finished third with 50.
Zuriel Smith accounted for the majority of scoring by placing in the top five in four events. Arabella Hodgdon was the only other team member who scored points.
In the high jump, Smith finished fifth with a four-foot, four-inch mark. Skowhegan's Josie Thompson won with 4-10. Smith finished second in discus with a 79-foot throw. Winthrop's Grace Folsom won with 96-11. In the javelin, Smith finished fourth with a 73-foot, 10-inch throw. Cheverus' Alex Ray won with 89-9.
In the shot put, Smith placed second with a 24-foot, 6-inch mark. Gardiner's Adela Ricker won with 24-9. In the 1600M race walk, Arabella Hodgdon finished second with a nine-minute, 24.56 second mark. Lisbon's Branwyn Obptande won with 9:13.50.
