Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club
The Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club may be in its off-season, but activity at the Club remains strong as members, staff, and leadership continue social gatherings, winter improvement projects, and long-range planning for the years ahead.
The Club kicked off the season with a well-attended pre-Thanksgiving Cocktail Party, where local year-round residents enjoyed reconnecting with friends and neighbors. Guests shared light fare and conversation in a relaxed setting. Looking ahead, the club will host its annual Christmas cocktail party on Thursday, Dec. 18, to be held at the home of Dee and Howie Wright. The evening will feature traditional seasonal favorites, including a Christmas ham.
Although the docks are quiet, the organizational work behind the scenes is well underway. Committee volunteers and club leadership are actively preparing for the 2026 season. This includes coordination for major summer activities, including entertainment events, the annual BHYC Regatta & Shipyard Cup Classics Challenge, and youth programming. Additional initiatives are evaluating membership development and emergency preparedness for the club’s waterfront facilities.
Several off-season construction and maintenance projects are also advancing. Recently, the deck at the tennis center was fully rebuilt, including removal of aging structures and improvements to drainage beneath the deck. The new pressure-treated deck features integrated benches designed to serve members for many more seasons. Work will now shift to upgrades in the clubhouse kitchen area.
The club community has also been mindful of the impact of Hurricane Melissa, which caused widespread damage in Jamaica last month. Many seasonal staff members have family ties there, and the club is pleased to share that all staff and their families are safe as the region continues to recover.
