BHSD sees 'significant loss' in stock market
Boothbay Harbor Sewer District (BHSD)’s investment portfolio took a hit in September. According to a fund allocation report from First National Wealth Management, the district's market value dropped almost $62,000 by the month’s end, standing at $2,500,645.11 as of Sept. 30. Financials were reviewed by trustees Oct. 6.
In other business, district employees will begin the annual sewer line cleaning in the coming weeks. This process clears out residue that can otherwise reduce pipe capacity. Flaggers will be directing traffic on affected roads.
After some uncertainty due to a late start, BHSD was able to spend its $4,015,000 in grant money from the Maine Infrastructure Adaptation Fund (MIAF). USDA Rural Development funds will cover the rest of phase 1 of its climate resiliency project, totaling about $3.83 million in loans and $400,000 in grants.
Superintendent Sean Boyd recently passed an exam to become a grade-three license operator.
