Join us at the Camden Opera House, at 29 Elm St., from 3-4 p.m. for a heartwarming afternoon of film and community as we present "Andre, The Seal Who Came Home" — a remarkable true story of friendship, trust, and the extraordinary bond between a human and a wild animal.
From PBS, this captivating documentary follows the unforgettable journey of Andre, a two-day-old harbor seal rescued in 1961 by Rockport, Maine arborist Harry Goodridge. What began as a rescue grew into a 25-year friendship that captured the imagination of people throughout New England and beyond.
Harry provided Andre with care and shelter through harsh winters, while Andre never lost his wild spirit. Each year, Andre proved his remarkable instincts by making the 200-mile journey back home to Rockport. Their connection endured every challenge, including Andre’s later years as he faced blindness, showing the incredible resilience and trust shared between two very different species.
Experience this inspiring Maine story of companionship, courage, and the enduring connection between people and the natural world.
Admission is free and open to all. Donations to the Community Arts Fund are warmly welcomed.
