Our future under Trump

Tue, 03/15/2016 - 9:15am

    Dear Editor:

Trump doesn’t offer many specific proposals. But let’s look closely at what he does offer.

Homeland Security estimates 11 million unauthorized immigrants came here since 1980 (See dhs.gov). Trump claims it’s 30 million and he will deport them all. This would need to include all people who came from 30 years ago, their children and more.

Many came through Mexico, but most are not Mexican. Many or most don’t have any documents at all. What country will accept them? As they are rounded up, where will he put them? Our prisons can’t hold them. He’ll need internment camps.

Many families will go into hiding. Local law enforcement can’t or won’t track them down. He’ll need to use military police. What tactics will he use to find them? How will these people be treated? Trump has promised to order the military to use torture as a tool.

There will be massive protests and rioting. He will need to impose martial law and suspend all political activity.

All of this is exactly what happened in Germany in the 1930s. His election tactics are very similar to Hitler’s. Is it a coincidence that he kept a copy of Hitler’s speeches by his bedside? (Vanity Fair July 2015)

This is also the man who would have his finger on the nuclear button.
