Dear Editor:

Southport had its annual town meeting March 7. Democracy in motion, as always; it was a beautiful thing. We had a couple controversial changes to our bylaws proposed; after long and passionate debate, the votes were taken. Both issues were defeated, one by 15 votes the other by one vote. One vote. You see, that one vote mattered very much. It changed everything.

You have that power if you only invoke it. Take your privilege to vote seriously. Realize that it is more than a privilege, it's a responsibility. Be engaged, make a difference ... Vote!
