Dear Editor:

I wanted to reach out and thank all the people that made the trip to Wiscasset Middle High School on Saturday, March 5 to the Lincoln County Republican Convention and Municipal Caucuses.

We had an overwhelming turnout; we estimate close to 1,000. The turnout was much greater than we had ever expected and everyone that could vote got a chance to vote while others got a chance to see the process in action. Your vote was cast in a secret ballot where no one could influence your vote and it was heard loud and clear. It is apparent there is change desired and the status quo is no longer desired.

It was great to see so many school students. I had invited all students to attend our convention and caucuses so they could see the process in action. The students even got to vote in their own preference pole, run by students. It was great to see them in action.

We, on the Lincoln County Republican Committee, worked hard to get everyone through to vote and participate. A special thank you goes out to Katie Winchenbach and the crew from the Waldoboro Republican Committee for their help. Our own Representative Stephanie Hawke from Boothbay Harbor stepped in to register people and helped greatly to ease the burden. I would like to thank Amanda from Wiscasset High School and Alex from Boothbay Region High School for all your help.

The Lincoln County Republican Committee will be working hard to earn your support and show you we listened to you and will be here for our community. We will be reaching out to people in the coming months and hope you continue to support us and the great legislators that represent us in Maine and Washington.
