Stolen firewood
Dear Editor:
Recently, two pickup truck loads of firewood have been taken from the Boothbay Community Resource Council’s storage area, located at the rear of the Boothbay Public Works Depot. The first truckload of wood went missing just prior to Martin Luther King Day, this past January. The second load was discovered missing February 12, approximately one month later.
The firewood collected at this location is for the use of those in financial or other critical need. It is collected, cut, split, stacked and delivered by the Woodchucks, a volunteer group supported through the Boothbay Regional Community Resources Council, peninsula towns, civic and charitable organizations, churches and generous private individuals throughout the area. The wood is delivered to those in need under the same guidelines and conditions that the Boothbay Region Fuel Fund works to supply fuel for those with oil or propane burners.
The Woodchucks sincerely hope that whoever loaded their truck meets this need. However, the Woodchucks and their efforts rely on the support of the BRCRC and the generosity of members of the local community. Therefore, if anyone on the Boothbay peninsula is in need of wood or other fuel assistance please call Sue Wilson at 633-6320.
