Dear Editor:

I sat glued to my iPad watching the Seahawk girls basketball team play in Augusta this weekend (I was on call and could not leave the area to make it to the arena). What a treat.

I have known most of those young women since birth (or shortly after), and I have to just say how proud I am. What a terrific group of kids, with great character, sportsmanship and grace. It makes me proud to live and work in the region. As the Dad of a 5-year-old girl, I was also thrilled to be able to have my daughter watch these young women play. What terrific role models. I hope to be in Augusta next week to watch them win it all. An amazing job of singing the national anthem, as well, by Suzie Edwards (Fenway next?)!
