Dear Editor:

I very much appreciated Robert Mitchell's comments and photo of the earliest (of the year) Newagen sunset. For fifty years my wife's mother looked westward over the Sheepscot River, watching the sunset. She knew the month by where the sun set -- a bit north of Salter Island around New Year's Day, and over Mink Island (among Five Islands) in June.

Perhaps Mr. Mitchell took another photo upon the latest (in the morning) Newagen sunrise, about 7:12 a.m. on January 5. I'll reimburse him for coffee and a breakfast slice at the Southport General Store.
