Annual open house at historical society Dec. 5
The Boothbay Region Historical Society invites you to its museum on Saturday, Dec. 5 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for our annual Harbor Lights open house. The museum, located at 72 Oak Street in Boothbay Harbor, will be decorated with festive holiday ornaments and greens, courtesy of society volunteers and the Garden Club.
An exhibit of antique toys will be on display in the main meeting room where visitors will also find a selection of popular books and stocking stuffers for sale at special Christmas prices. There will be delicious refreshments to please the palate, a door prize to sign up for, and raffle tickets to buy.
Raffle tickets are still available and may be purchased up until the drawing at 2 p.m. on the day of the open house. The winning ticket holder need not be present to win. This year’s double prize is a matted watercolor print by the late Earle Barlow of East Boothbay, and a signed copy of “Boothbay Region Historical Sketches, Vol. II” edited by local historian, Barbara Rumsey. The Barlow print includes a discount certificate for framing generously donated by Boothbay Harbor Framers & Gallery.
Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets and holiday gifts will benefit the society’s work in preserving the Boothbay region’s rich history, maintaining the museum’s collections, research facilities, and educational activities. For more information, please contact the museum at 207-633-0820, brhs@gwi.net, or go to www.boothbayhistorical.org.
