No shrimp, no smelts

Dear Editor:
When shrimp were plentiful, so were the smelts. I think the shrimp came to shallow waters to find the best temperature for dropping their eggs. The smelts chased them there, feeding on the eggs.
That’s my past experience, back to 1950. Hopefully, enough smelts will show up at the camps so the camp owners can earn a living renting them.
