Sen. Reny, Rep. Stover present legislative sentiment to Boothbay Region High School Drama Club
On Tuesday, April 29, Sen. Cameron Reny, D-Bristol, and Rep. Holly Stover, D-Boothbay, presented a legislative sentiment to the Boothbay Region High School Drama Club in recognition of their victory at the Maine Drama Festival’s Class B Regional One Acts Tournament in March.
“It was an honor to host the Regional One Acts champions from the Boothbay Region High School Drama Club at the State House to celebrate their achievements this winter,” said Sen. Reny. “We get to see a lot of sports teams in the Senate, but it’s not as often as we get to celebrate our young theater performers. I commend these teenagers and their coaches for their impressive performance, which ultimately led to them taking the second spot at the state competition as well.”
“I was so proud to have this talented group and their director, Dr. Mary Miller, at the State House to be recognized for their achievements,” said Rep. Stover. “With their combination of work ethic and creativity, it’s clear there will be no stopping these students as they pursue their goals.”
The Boothbay Region High School Drama Club is directed by Dr. Mary Miller and Susie Taylor. They performed William Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" to win the regional competition, which was held from March 6-8 at Medomak Valley High School. The state competition was held in Millinocket from March 21-22.
Sen. Reny represents Senate District 13, which includes most of Lincoln County and the towns of Washington and Windsor. Rep. Stover represents House District 48, which includes the towns of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, South Bristol, Southport and Westport Island.
