    Winter's chill was in the air as Santa Claus made his annual appearance outside Southport General Store Dec. 6.

    Kids, parents, neighbors and friends gathered in anticipation of the jolly old elf and enjoyed carols sung by children of Southport Central School. Soon everyone joined in the singing, some stealing sips of hot chocolate or coffee between verses!

    Santa arrived on the back of a delightfully decorated and lit fire engine. Adults cleared the way for the young ones to catch their first glimpse of him.

    After a singing of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," the children gathered around Santa for a bag of special treats just for them.
