Vote yes on #2
Dear Editor:
Article #2 pertains to the TIF proposal, the primary purpose of the TIF proposal would be to fund road improvements along Route #27, around the common area and the new entrance to the golf course. This same area of road (Route 27) across from the Clipper Mart has been the scene of several fatalities and multiple accidents.
Why wouldn’t we want to take advantage of TIF funds to make road changes that result in highway safety improvements? The plan being presented to the public is only a concept. A committee will be formed to review the concept and other viable alternatives.
Finally as I understand it, TIF funds “would not” be used to bring water and sewer into the Industrial Park. The TIF money’s primary intended use is for road improvement and to assist existing or new businesses who are investing $500,000 of their own money in facilities and capital improvements.
Why not invest in economic development? We need more year round employment in the area and if some of the TIF proceeds could be directed towards new or expanding businesses maybe the next generation could actually live and work in this wonderful community.
