Call to arms
Dear Editor:
November 5 is a Call to Arms for the people of Boothbay.
We lost the last battle to save St. Andrews Hospital after listening to smooth Mr. James Donovan and our trusted St. Andrews Hospital trustees.
Now we learn that Mr. James Chaousis, our town manager, with the OK of all of our selectmen (our trustees), and Mr. Paul Coulombe have been planning for sometime to radically change the face of our town.
Mr. Coulombe thinks that I have to open my eyes and mind. On the contrary, my eyes and mind are not closed. They are wide open. I just do not agree with his and Mr. Chaousis' vision of the future face of our town.
And to top it off. Mr. Chaousis is asking us to authorize him to do whatever he deems necessary or convenient to get approval of this plan from the state agencies. In other words saying “Trust me.”
Should Mr. Chaousis and Mr. Coulombe succeed in getting a go-ahead for their so-called “Improvement Plan,” Mary Brewer’s statement regarding the loss of St. Andrews Hospital will be true again.
“Life here will never be the same.”
Please vote no on November 5.
(Mr. Dennis C. Brown, I hope this letter is up to your standards.)
