Boothbay Sea and Science Center founder to speak at Boothbay Region Garden Club meeting

Pauline Dion, founder and executive director of the Boothbay Sea and Science Center, will be presenting at the next monthly meeting of the Boothbay Region Garden Club on Wednesday, May 8 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church (32 Emery Lane, Boothbay Harbor).  The public is welcome to attend and refreshments will be served!

The Boothbay Sea and Science Center (BSSC) provides a community sea and science education center that offers equal and affordable access to the waterfront for youth through sailing, boating, and marine science experiential learning programs and activities not provided by other regional organizations. 

BSSC offers innovative, experiential, and affordable education programs to youth ages 5 -17. BSSC’s programs are focused on opening doors of opportunity for students, instructors, and teachers with hands-on learning, instilling lifelong skills and creating career pathways in STEM fields. Collaborating with marine businesses, schools, social service agencies, marine research agencies, and volunteers, from the beginning, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences has been a principal partner with scientists actively engaged in program development and as members of the Board of Directors and Advisory Board.

Pauline Dion is a champion of non-profit advancement and a fun and engaging speaker. She  has held fundraising chairmanships for a number of organizations and serves on the Board of Directors for many local nonprofits.   A passionate lifelong sailor, Pauline chaired the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Junior Sailing and Tennis programs from 2005 – 2012.  Pauline received a bachelor of science degree in nursing (with an emphasis in adult oncology) from Salve Regina College, and earned a master’s degree with an emphasis in nursing education from Boston College School of Nursing.
