Check us out on your smart phone
Dear Readers,
If you are one of the more than 24,000 plus folks who have visited the Boothbay Register’s website this month, you are in for a treat.
This week, you may have noticed, we have rolled out a smart phone version of our website. We urge you to check it out.
Our master designer has fashioned it so the stories you love to read every day are squeezed into a size that is easier on the eyes when you are scooting around the web on your smart phone.
It will have the same great news stories about our towns, communities and neighborhoods. You will still be able to view the same heartwarming features and breathtaking photos you have come to expect from the bigger website you know and love.
It will have the same local columns and columnists, like Tim Sample, Maine’s famed top storyteller; bird experts Jeff and Allison Wells; and, of course, super photographer Bob Mitchell and the rest of the regular gang you see in our paper and on the bigger website.
The idea was to make it just be a bit easier to read on your phone. I know, I know, the youngsters don’t seem to have a problem reading our regular website, but the older crowd, and that includes me, are getting weak in the eyes. So we thought we would help them (us) out.
Now, this improvement does not mean we are going to quit producing the Boothbay Register newspaper. Not by a long shot. We will still print our sister paper, the Wiscasset Newspaper, too.
But, all the studies, by the really smart guys, tell us folks are getting more and more dependent on their smart phones. And lots of our friends seem to have them stuck in their pockets and purses. They seem to pull them out and check them on a regular basis.
So we wanted to provide a way to make it a bit easier to read “Ye Olde Boothbay Register” and “Ye (Not so) Olde Wiscasset Newspaper’ on your smart phone
In addition to the important community news, the new version will give you a chance to see the ads for your favorite stores and attractions tucked into the small screen.
So, fire up your smart phone and check us out.
We think you will like it. Let me know what you think about our new offering. Is there anything you would you like to see us do, or not do? Just drop me an email at joegelarden@boothbayregister.com. You can also call me at 207-633-4620, or drop me a note via snail mail in care of the Boothbay Register, P.O. Box 357 Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.
I look forward to hearing from you.
