Lifesaving response
Dear Editor:
On the evening of June 7, our 23-year-old house guest, Elizabeth, had a life threatening medical event. The response to our 911 call was incredibly fast and the professional proficiency of the ambulance crew, the EMT, the sheriff and his deputy, and the staff at St. Andrews Hospital's ER, headed by Dr. Fox, was outstanding.
Elizabeth was air-lifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland where the doctors told us that, but for the quick action and all the right decisions by Dr. Fox and his staff, Elizabeth would not have made it. It was a tough and uncertain Saturday for Elizabeth and, although she is still in intensive care, she will make it.
She would not have made it without the ER at St. Andrews; she would not have survived an ambulance trip to Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
Thanks to all.
