BCA celebration a success
Dear Editor:
The Fourth of July began with a bang under the blazing sun as the Boothbay Civic Association held its 27th Fourth of July Celebration on the Boothbay Town Common.
The Boothbay Region Community Band opened the event by playing the National Anthem, followed by several marches and patriotic songs. Boothbay Town Manager Jim Chaousis gave a welcoming address.
The BCA wishes to express appreciation to the Community Band, and to musicians Arthur Webster, Danny Beal and the Red Cup Ramblers, who entertained throughout the day.
A sincere thank you to Pepsi Bottling Group and Pine State Trading for their donations, and to the following area merchants and individuals who generously contributed goods and services: The Center Cafe, Grover's Hardware, Hannaford, Hammond Lumber, Yellowfront Grocery, Mill Cove Lobster, Stan Hodgdon, Phil & Mike's, Gimbel's Country Store & Smiling Cow, Boothbay Fire Department, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Giles Rubbish, Town of Boothbay and the Boothbay Register.
A very special expression of gratitude to all those who worked on the chicken barbecue and hot dog concession.
We extend our gratitude to the many BCA members and supporters who donated desserts, and who assisted in serving and clean-up throughout the long, hot day.
Thanks to Lester Spear and others who were in charge of the children's games, and to Vicki Huskins who organized the Arts and Crafts Show.
And, once again, we want to thank the local people and others, many of whom came long distances, for joining us and making this celebration of our national holiday a very special event.
