Glad to see troops return
Dear Editor:
I had to write and express my opinion on the article on the front page of the June 20 issue. It shows a photo of Peter Greenleaf hugging his son, Nick Greenleaf, on his return home from Afghanistan.
I believe that picture needed no words and brought tears to my eyes. My grandson is a Marine and came home from Afghanistan six months ago. While he was gone, it was the longest nine months his family has ever gone through.
These boys are so young and are, as I have said, boys when they leave and men when they return.
I live in Central New York and we come to Boothbay every year on vacation. I am so glad to hear about the three young men who returned to you and I pray for all the ones to still return and grieve for the ones that have not.
Good luck to Nick and his family and God bless them all.
