St. Columba’s offers courses

St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, Emery Lane, Boothbay Harbor will be hosting the first in a series from The Great Courses - Reading Biblical Literature: Genesis to Revelation. The 18-part DVD lecture series will be held weekly beginning Thursday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. and running through mid-May.

The first course will be “Reading Biblical Literature: Genesis to Revelation” We will engage with the Bible in a new way. Religion scholar Professor Craig R. Koester delivers the DVD course. He is an acclaimed teacher at Luther Seminary and he will guide us through the ancient stories, empowering us to engage with the books of the Bible as rich, meaningful texts. We will gain a sense of complex characters, hidden meanings and powerful life lessons. There are 36 half-hour lessons followed by a group discussion for another half an hour, more or less.

After this first course, we as a group will consider the next course on religious subjects offered.
