Chip Griffin to preach at Congregational Church Oct. 21
“There is Nothing New Under the Sun” will be the focus of Griffin’s sermon this Sunday, Oct. 21, which is both Laity Sunday and Heritage Sunday. With refreshing hope, Griffin writes,
“Today, so many say, as never before, we are living through the worst extremes ever in Boothbay, New England, and America. Our outmigration of youth, political and religious divisiveness, economic inequality, socially steadfast monologues instead of transformative dialogues, and technological transformation are unrivaled in history. As never before? Hogwash! There is nothing new under the sun, as Ecclesiastes informs us. And watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles, as Paul instructed us in Romans almost two millennia ago. These times of deep chasms and extremes and shall pass, as examples from the past four centuries in America teach us.”
Worship is at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome. For additional information about the church, please visit the website: www.congochurchbbh.org. You may participate in worship from home by watching on BRCTV or by live-streaming from the church website.
