‘Preparing for Death,’ a 5-week class at the Congregational Church
It has been said that “Preparing for death is one of the most empowering things you can do. Thinking about death clarifies your life.” (C. Chang).
On Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 in June and one in July, this class, which will be a spiritual conversation, will take place in the Congregational Church (Boothbay Harbor) library. Everyone is welcome. Sign up by calling or stopping by the church office (633-4757). The course schedule follows:
June 6: Facing Death/Responding to Death
Questions: What was your first experience of death? How does your childhood understanding of death differ from your present understanding?
June 13: Finding/Making Peace Before You Die
Questions: Are there loose ends in your life? Do you have any regrets about your life? What can you do to tie up loose ends and make amends?
June 20: Living Abundantly in the Time You’ve Been Given
Questions: What makes you aware of your mortality? If you discovered you had six months to live, how would you spend it? What have you always wanted to do?
June 27: Your Spiritual Legacy
Questions: What have you learned in this life that you would like to pass on to others before you die? If you could gather your loved ones and give a farewell address, what would you say?
July 11: Beyond Death – the Meaning of Eternity
Questions: What do you believe happens when you die? What do you believe about eternity? If you preached a sermon about heaven, what would you say?
