The Cub Scouts Abnaki Chuck Wagon Derby was held April 28. Three boys from the Waldoboro pack, Ethan Smith, Griffin Smith and Nathan Percival, and one from the Boothbay pack, Jeffrey McKinney, took first place Derby honors.
The boys completed events such as blind ox course, chicken roping, gold digging, river crossing, pony express, knot tying, First Aid, arts and crafts (bolo, and 10 gallon hats), refilling water towers, and setting up shelters that would withstand a Maine earthquake. All the boys had a good time and especially enjoyed leading each other through a course using commands for oxen (ox were blindfolded scouts).
