A Bristol man who was recently arrested in Wiscasset pleaded not guilty to a pair of misdemeanor charges.

Matthew Plummer, 32, of Bristol, pleaded not guilty to one count each of resisting arrest or detention and violating the conditions of his release on Sept. 8.

According to an arrest report filed by Lincoln County Sheriff Detective Jared Mitkus, Plummer was placed under arrest after a Sept. 8 meeting with a probation officer. According to Mitkus' report, Plummer stiffened and pulled away when Mitkus attempted to put handcuffs on him, and at one point Mitkus had to lower him to the ground to get the cuffs on in the parking lot outside of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in Wiscasset.

In his report, Mitkus made note of smelling alcohol on Plummer's breath; a later intoxilyzer test allegedly revealed a blood alcohol content of .06 percent.

Plummer was taken to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

Plummer was on probation from a 2013 guilty conviction for one count of Class C unlawful possession of Oxycodone. He was sentenced to four years in prison, all suspended, and given probation for two years.

One of the stipulations of the probation was that Plummer neither use nor possess alcohol and to refrain from committing any new criminal acts.

In 2013, Plummer was rearrested and charged with domestic violence assault after he allegedly struck a woman in the face. After he was arrested, Plummer allegedly admitted to having been drinking and when he was administered an intoxilyzer test he was reported to have a BAC of .19 percent.

In 2014, Plummer's probation was partially revoked and he was ordered to serve a year of his sentence after alleged repeated probation violations.

Plummer was rearrested in 2015 in Belfast after he allegedly drank alcohol. According to an arrest report from the Belfast Police Department, Plummer was allegedly seen walking down the middle of the road “staggering like (he was) drunk or on something.” The two officers reportedly gave Plummer a ride home, and made note that he was allegedly intoxicated.

Plummer was rearrested and sent to Waldo County Jail for probation violation after the January incident. Plummer was scheduled for sentencing in December of this year for that case.

Plummer is currently being held on a $5,000 cash bond at Two Bridges and has been ordered to again neither drink nor possess alcohol. He is scheduled to have a court date Nov. 9 at the Lincoln County Court House in Wiscasset.

If convicted Plummer could face up to 364 days in jail for the Class D resisting arrest charge and up six months in jail for the Class E violation of conditions of release charge. Both Class D and Class E crimes are misdemeanors and carry a maximum fine of $2,000 and $1,000, respectively.
