Boothbay schools perform mid-winter concert








It was standing room only by 7 p.m. for the Feb. 10 Boothbay Region Elementary and High schools concert, which took place in the BRHS auditorium.
Performing was the BRES 6thgrade band, the Wildcat Wind Ensemble and the Seahawk Symphonic Band. Both BRES bands also joined together to play.
The 6th grade band performed “American Pride” by Andrew Balent and a rendition of “The Addams Family” by Vic Mizzy and arranged by Paul Lavender.
The Wildcat Wind Ensemble performed Chorale No. 2 by Bach and “American Patrol” by F.W. Meacham and arranged by Mike Lewis.
Together, both BRES bands played “The Best of Queen,” arranged by Paul Murtha.
The Seahawk Symphonic Band played “One Night in Athens” by David Bobrowitz, “Moondance” by Van Morrison (arranged by Victor Lopez), “Peter Gunn” by Henry Mancini (arranged by Paul Murtha) and “Ashokan Farewell” by Jay Under (arranged by Calvin Custer) to end the night.
During “Peter Gunn,” two students performed solos. These were senior Sinead Miller on the flute and senior Zach Vise on trombone.
The students received a standing ovation at the end of the concert.
