Woodchuck program now accepting applications for winter heating wood
As colder months approach, the Community Resource Council (CRC) is once again offering critical support to local households through its Woodchuck Program, now accepting applications for home heating wood. This vital initiative provides seasoned, dry firewood to eligible households in need, ensuring residents stay warm throughout the winter season.
The Woodchuck Program, part of CRC's broader mission to support the community, serves individuals and families who rely on wood as a primary or supplementary heat source. Each year, the program offers much-needed relief to those who may otherwise struggle to afford heating costs during the colder months.
“This program is a crucial safety net for so many in our community,” said Hannah Corkum, CRC’s Community Navigator. “We want to make sure no one goes without heat this winter, and we encourage anyone who may need assistance to reach out.”
To apply for the Woodchuck Program, interested households can contact the Community Navigator, Hannah Corkum directly at 207-350-1743. Corkum will assist with the application process and determine eligibility based on need. Early applications are encouraged.
The Woodchuck Program relies heavily on donations and the hard work of local volunteers, who chop, stack, and deliver the wood to homes across the region. The program highlights the strength and compassion of the Boothbay community, ensuring that residents have access to essential resources, especially during challenging times.
