William Curran, 43, of Whitefield, was sentenced to multiple charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor under 12 and Possession of Sexually Explicit Material of a Minor Under 12 at Lincoln County Superior Court on Friday, April 22.

Curran had been under investigation by Maine State Police’s Computer Crimes division and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in November 2015.

The most serious crime, Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Under 12, Curran yielded a sentence of 15 years, all but six years suspended, and probation for 12 years.

Thirteen charges of Possession of Sexually Explicit Material of a Minor Under 12, dating from an incident in April 2015, yielded a sentence of five years each. An additional five charges of Possession Sexually Explicit Material yielded a sentence of 364 days each.

The charge of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Under 12 is a Class A felony. Upon release, Curran will have to register as a sex offender for life.
