Wildcat girls win Busline's southern division
The Boothbay Region Elementary School Wildcats girls basketball team advanced to championship game of the Busline League’s small school division by winning the south division, 46-23 over Woolwich at home Friday, Feb. 6.
The championship game is scheduled for this morning, Saturday, Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. in Searsport. Boothbay will play the winner of the north division championship game between the Drinkwater School in Northport and Lincolnville.
The game started slow for the Wildcats as Woolwich led 9-6 after the first quarter. However, Boothbay stepped up its defense and looked for better shots and went on to lead at halftime, 22-11. Madilyn Alley scored 10 points in the quarter, mostly on layups and fastbreak shots. Mabel Kaler added four points in the quarter.
The Wildcat defense held Woolwich to only three points in the third quarter and the home team was never challenged in the fourth quarter. Boothbay led going into the fourth quarter, 37-14. Jimiah Stetson led the way in the quarter with 6 points.
