LCCT, the resident theater company at Damaiscotta’s historic Lincoln Theater, is excited to present its holiday production, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson. Stars 30 incredible community members. More information in full article in this section of the newspaper. Showtimes: 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 20; one matinee on Sunday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. Tickets: $10 general admission with 50% of all ticket sales will be donated to the Ecumenical Food Pantry, serving the residents of Damariscotta, Newcastle, Nobleboro, and the larger community.
"Wicked: For Good" - (PG; 2 hours, 18 minutes) - Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), now demonized as The Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile, hidden within the Ozian forest while continuing her fight for the freedom of Oz's silenced Animals and desperately trying to expose the truth she knows about The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum). Glinda, meanwhile, has become the glamorous symbol of Goodness for all of Oz, living at the palace in Emerald City and reveling in the perks of fame and popularity. When an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba will need to come together one final time. With their singular friendship now the fulcrum of their futures, they will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good. "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town" - (1936; 1 hour, 55 minutes) - The third film - Classic Film Club, Stars and Noirs. Longfellow Deeds (Gary Cooper), a resident of small-town Vermont, leads a simple life until he inherits a vast fortune from a late uncle. Soon, unscrupulous lawyer John Cedar (Douglas Dumbrille) brings Deeds to New York City, where the unassuming heir is the object of much media attention. When wily reporter Babe Bennett (Jean Arthur) gains the trust and affection of Deeds, she uses her position to publish condescending articles about him -- but are her feelings for him really that shallow? Gary Cooper and Jean Arthus star in this Oscar nominated Best Picture that won a Best Director Oscar for Frank Capra. Film historian and Classic Film Club host Jeannie MacDonald will provide a brief introduction to the film and a post-screening Q & A. Playing Thursday, Jan. 1 at 7 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m.
