It all started with a mysterious sound in the Pacific. This sound, first discovered in the 1980s and suspected of being a Russian submarine by a top-secret program of the U.S. Navy, turned out to be one of the earth’s most majestic creatures. A whale, broadcasting at a frequency that no other whale could understand. Legend has it that “52” has been roaming the ocean for decades … entirely alone. We hope you will join us this week on an enthralling expedition, right from the comfort of our community living room, in search of the 52 hertz whale.

“The Loneliest Whale: The Search for 52” - (PG; 1 hour, 30 minutes) - A cinematic quest to find the “52 Hertz Whale,” which scientists believe has spent its entire life in solitude calling out at a frequency that is different from any other whale. As the film embarks on this engrossing journey, audiences will explore what this whale’s lonely plight can teach us – not just about our changing relationship to the oceans, but to each other. Discover one of the ocean’s greatest modern mysteries in the quest to find the elusive 52 hertz whale. Executive produced with Leonardo DiCaprio and directed by Joshua Zeman.
