We need to flip the Senate
Dear Editor:
Susan Collins’s barrage of attacks on Troy Jackson is funded by out-of-state billionaires intent on keeping their darling in the White House and busy plunging our nation ever deeper into chaos, while they stuff their own pockets. While Congress cowers, we see our wisest military leaders being dismissed or choosing to leave rather than join in the reckless deployment of the President’s new toys. Federal agencies are eviscerated as heroes like Fauci— who pursued a life of rigorous science— are vilified by those who prefer wishful thinking, and any institution that aims to promote serious inquiry and knowledge is fair game for harassment at least. Our status in the world hasn’t been this shaky since 1776.
Those of us reading this paper are lucky to be where we are. Maine is a glorious state. But it isn’t a sovereign nation; if America becomes a third-world country, we’re going down with it. We need to flip the Senate, bring in serious, honest grownups who will look hard together at our current course and work to change it. Please vote for Troy Jackson.
