There is a water main break on Eastern Avenue in Boothbay Harbor. Eastern Avenue is closed from the entrance at Route 27 to Kenney Field Drive.

Boothbay Region Water District officials on the scene said if all goes smoothly, the break will be taken care of within four to five hours.

Residents living at the end of Highland Park Road where it meets Eastern Avenue may not have water.

Jon Ziegra, manager at BRWD, attributes the break to the cold temperatures this winter.

“It happens less frequently now due to the improvements we’ve made to the infrastructure, but, it’s winter in Maine,” Ziegra said.

Ziegra said any possible water outages for Highland Park residents would be “limited - if any.”
