That was then
Dear Editor:
Mrs. Meserve (December 26 edition) is indeed lucky in the treatment for her broken toe, but she is particularly lucky it happened to her between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Otherwise it would have taken some considerable hours of discomfort as well as the possibility of further injury to the untreated digit or even more.
When St. Andrews was a full fledged hospital, everyone there was equally as kind, helpful, efficient and expert; and before the name change to “urgent care,” the same place, as an emergency room, always handled injuries as quickly and as well. And they did it 24/7, a lifesaver for those whose illness or accident would not have kept them going until the morning. Or until Monday, should they develop a need at 8:03 Friday evening.
That was then. Would that the future looked as bright for us on the peninsula now.
